The main difference between the two is the Arkfeld can hold itself on any magnetic surface - Meaning the Olight Arkfeld can function as a de facto work light. For instance, the Olight Warrior Mini 2 also has a magnetic tail. The Olight Arkfeld has a magnetic tail, but not all magnetic tails are created equal. Magnetic Tail The Olight Arkfeld will hold itself on any magnetic surface. Luckily Olight sells replacement MCC3 charging cables. Don’t lose it or you’ll be left in the dark. The one caveat is the MCC3 charging cable is proprietary. Having no charging ports is especially useful if you have young, curious, handsy future EDC enthusiasts in your midst. Thus, there are no charging ports to break. The charging cable magnetically snaps to the flashlight tail means there’s no need to insert a charging cable. One of the features I appreciate most about Olight flashlights is the magnetic charging. The Olight Arkfeld is obviously tailored for us EDC folks.īesides the overall design of the Arkfeld, here are some features I found particularly impressive: Magnetic Charging The charging cable magnetically snaps to the tail of the Olight Arkfeld. In other words, I can carry it all day and not even know it is there. As a result, the Arkfeld vanishes in the pocket. Comparing the Arkfeld to the similarly sized Warrior Mini 2, the Arkfeld is half the thickness of the WM2. The body is flat by design and about as thick as a deck of playing cards at 0.59 inches (15mm). Right off the bat, we can see the design of Arkfeld is unlike other Olight offerings. If you're concerned about the open USB port you can buy little plugs on Amazon and they work well.Design and Features The Arkfeld is about as thick as a deck of playing cards at 0.59 inches (15mm) and flat by design. It should be smaller & more pocketable than the Arkfeld and it sounds like you don't need the laser function. With that said, between the two I think I would probably choose the Wedge in your situation. The "Olight explode" rhetoric found in the gun/tactical gear community is a myth. ![]() It has also happened to Streamlight and Surefire lights and can happen to any light using multiple CR123A batteries. There was one instance of that many years ago and it was due to user error (mixing CR123A batteries). The exploding thing is completely unrelated. Since they're high powered lights, that could burn things (similar to focusing sunlight through a magnifying lens, lots of light gets hot). That's because those models had a flaw in the switch design that allowed them to turn on in the pocket very easily. They did issue a burn warning and a product recall of Warrior Mini & M2R Pro.
